Explore Copenhagen Like a Local

Woman

July 1, 2021

One of the greatest bike cities in the world is Wonderful Copenhagen where besides the lovely biking culture has tons to offer. Copenhagen is filled with beautiful architecture, historic areas, amazing food and plenty of parks embedded into the city to explore. So Grab an orange Donkey Bike and explore the city like a real Danish local.

CHRISTIANIA

Christinia is Copenhagen’s Hippie “Free Town” and a self-governed area of Copenhagen established in 1971 in an old military base. It contains around 900 residents in it’s small community and has a lot of lovely green areas leading out to the canals of Copenhagen. There are also great food places to discover. From breakfast and brunch serving everything from hamburgers to vegetarian restaurants, Christiania is a place to suit all food tastes. If you’re in the mood for pastries, head to Sunshine Bakery and taste a typical Danish kage (cake). Prices are quite low and all of the products are super tasty.

REFFEN

A lovely bike ride through the old historic area, past the design academy, past Noma, the Michelin Restaurant and some amazing house boats you will eventually find your way to REFFEN located on an old industrial “island” called Refshaleøen. It is an urban playground for co-creation, innovation, food, creativity and last but not least it’s the largest street food venue in the Nordics. There’s also the option to jump in the nice clean Copenhagen Harbour so bring you swimsuits!

THE GREEN PATH

Copenhagen has its own Bike Highway known as “The Green Path” which stretches through Copenhagen and Frederiksberg.  Biking through this path is a bit like being served the city upside down, the more private version of city life. The Nørrebro route opens up for a surprising look behind Copenhagen’s facade and cultural variety.

RESTAURANT FRANK

End your day in the beautiful and buzzing city center and explore fantastic Nordic gourmet foods at Restaurant Frank (on the 2020 Michelin Guide). The open kitchen takes center stage at this relaxed, contemporary restaurant, with its soft lighting, flickering candles, comfy sofas and designer wooden furnishings. Choose between an à la carte and a tasting menu – both of which offer flavour-packed, original and understated modern dishes.
